WELCOME

Act Like a Child – Think
Like a Child. Whether you are young or old, the International Peace Garden
appeals to your sense of smell, site, touch, taste and hearing. Peace
and tranquility tug at the hearts of the many thousands of annual visitors.
The International
Peace Garden is a popular retreat where nature and people meet. One hundred and fifty thousand flowers are planted
each year. The two floral flag displays are the only two that remain the
same each year. The working floral clock holds 2,000 to 3,000 flowers
depending upon the design. Moose, deer, and birds are a pleasure to watch
as are the turtles sunning
themselves at the Ducks Unlimited Dam. Camping, picnicking, hiking and
biking make for a
lifetime memory. Many play areas are located at the various picnic sites,
as well as the café. If kept on a leash, pets are welcomed to the park.
The quaint Souvenir Shop has items for all ages
and interests. The Café carries many flavors of ice cream and a favorite
treat, Canadian Toffee. Visitors are
intrigued with the 911 Memorial Site, the 120 foot tall columns of the
Peace Tower and the Peace Chapel, with its
peaceful writings etched in limestone containing marine fossils.
Playful daisies surround the children’s Peace Marker, dedicated September 9, 1950, by the Young Citizens League. The marker was sculptured
by Hynek Rynicek of Mandan, ND. The inscription reads: "Under God
Let Child Love Child and Strife Will Cease."
