Visit the Historic Lodge, the first building in the International Peace Garden. Revel in the beauty of it’s natural architecture, the first main construction built in 1937 by American workers in the Civilian Conservation Corps. The lodge consists of spruce from Duck Mountain northwest of Dauphin, Manitoba and granite from North Dakota. On the front lawn, a gift from the Fraternal Order of Eagles in South and North Dakota and Manitoba is a monolith in which the Ten Commandments are inscribed. Charlton Heston, an American actor, who played Moses in the Ten Commandment Hollywood movie, was in attendance for the 1956 dedication.
